Sunday 5th October 2014 proved to be sunny & clear with perfect conditions for the Forest Row 5 & 10K runs. The event is organised by Hazel Best on behalf of Forest Row Scouts. WiredThing were pleased to donate the vest numbers for the competitors and are happy to do so again next year. There were 35 more entrants than last year, making it the most well attended event so far with 235 runners.
The Run is the biggest fund raiser of the year for the Scouts and they managed to raise a total of £1800. The funds will be distributed between the ongoing running costs of the Scout Hut in Station Road and some much needed refurbishments. The hut is in need of new windows and the long term goal is to install a disabled toilet so the building can be deemed usable for both the able bodied and disabled people.
Once they have this facility, the hut will able to be hired out by other groups which will benefit everyone in the community.
Mens 5K - Dom Park - 19: 55
Ladies 5K - Georgina Tasker - 23:38
Mens 10K - Richard Smith - 35:53
Ladies 10K - Steph Barrett - 44:49
Dave English, Senior Developer for WiredThing took part in the 10K and completed the Mens over 50’s category in a respectable 49:49, finishing in 5th place.
